Midweek Connection and Motivation Membership

High school is an intense experience. Between academics, social life, extracurricular, and pressures of the quickly-approaching adult life, life can feel beyond full. On the other hand, it can all feel uninspiring, and quite lonely. All of these experiences are real and valid, and, in my opinion, not given enough attention.

Parents often reach out and tell me about the challenges their high schoolers are facing during this interesting, yet challenging, developmental time. They often report struggles related to:

  • Organization and executive functioning
  • Stress management
  • Self-Care
  • Confidence
  • Self-Awareness
  • Connecting with peers
  • Finding purpose
  • Motivation and focus
  • Perfectionism

As an advocate and coach for teens, I believe in normalizing the full range of human emotions AND supporting young people in getting out of isolation.

This process requires SLOWING DOWN— compassionately and consistently. Taking a pause in the middle of the week, creating the time to check in, get centered, and connect, is crucial for sustainability and success. (You might know this about yourself in your work as a parent and/or professional, too! What habits of slowing down and checking in do you maintain?)

Together, in this online membership for high schoolers, we will build a community that offers all members connection and motivation, as well as practical tools. With support, facilitation, and mini-lessons from Courtney, members of this group will experience new awareness of their patterns, needs, and preferences. Additionally, they will have the space to problem-solve and ask for support when a new challenge arises.

The group is ongoing, meaning that new members can join at any time! We will meet weekly for 50 minutes. Your teenager will have enough time to settle in (from the comfort of their home), AND they won’t be concerned that this commitment will interfere with homework time or relaxation time.

In fact, taking this time to pause will actually buy your teen more time. When we acknowledge our experiences and needs, name our sensations, process challenges, and celebrate wins, we refuel ourselves.

And doing this all in COMMUNITY is powerful, albeit sometimes nerve-wracking, especially at the beginning.

Each session will include the following components:

  • Centering/Arriving
  • Highlights Check-in
  • Challenges Check-In
  • Toolbox Share
  • Q/A and Processing Together
  • Closing

Each session, I will present and share a tool or strategy that I have seen teenagers in my practice utilize with success. I am also drawing from 10 years of classroom teaching experience as a Special Education and Social and Emotional Learning Teacher, as well as my personal experience with mindfulness practices, therapy, coaching, journaling, and mindset creation.

As the facilitator, I will be responsive to requests, challenges, and curiosities of the group; thus, the tools we explore together will be tailored to fluctuating and diverse needs of the group. This online group is not based on a scripted curriculum, and it will draw from a wide range of resources.

What is Included in the Membership?

  • 1 Weekly 50-minute call (beginning on Wednesday, August 21, 2019)
  • 1 Weekly Follow-Up Email with relevant links, videos, handouts, etc.
  • Access to Marco Polo chat group

However, it is my commitment and promise that I will show up 100% of the time to facilitate this community with care, love, concern, attention, and a passion for uplifting the teenage experience.
